Q Contents.

Color
In this contents page the colors that are used are very basic, they us black red and white, which makes it look quite classy. The parts that are red in are the main parts like the titles and the actual name of the magazine which is always in red. The mood and impression that this gives us is a very relaxed mood, but the actual image of the band has a dark and gloomy background so it does set a very dull mood, but at the same time the readers aspire to be like them because they do look very dominate. They only use two or three simple colors because if they choose too many loud colors it's very confusing and distracting for the audience and the audience would not focus on the information.

Design
As this is the contents it shows lot of text. The text is all to the left hand side and the main image covers the middle and the right of the page. As the image is a feature inside the magazine, the part of the contents overlaps onto the image so you know it what page it is featured on, this makes it stand out more to the reader and it is more focused on the information. The style of the writing makes the contents page look very classy, neat and smart, it's very basic but this gives the magazine a better impression as it is focusing on the information.

Images
As Q magazine is a very serious and popular magazine for the rock and indie genre of music, the band that is the main image for this magazine is an indie/punk band. This targets the reader for this audience of the magazine, there is also a smaller image at the bottom of the page which also a feature of the magazine, so this shows the link between the image and the information. This gives the reader an instant look into knowing what is there magazine.

Pose, style and makeup
The pose of the band is very basic and normal, and their style is typical indie/rock boy band. The picture of the band is very different shot and makes the band look more different and superior and the same time, so the audience of this magazine would aspire to be like this band and look up to them. Also the camera angle of the band is a low camera angle so instantly we are looking up at them, this also adds to the effect of wanting to be like them.

Words used on cover
The words that are used are, are to describe the information that will be featured in the magazine, and includes page number. The way the words are placed on the page makes the audience focus on just the information as it is in one part of the page, also because the writing is not all over the place on the page it is easier for the reader to concentrate on. The font of the writing on this page is not big enough to be been seen from afar because there is a lot of detail to add. But the audience could tell from afar that what this page is and what the meaning of it is.

Overall impression
The contents of this magazine suits the front cover of this magazine as well, as it is kept very simple and classy. The contents does show a clear view of what is going to be inside the magazine. This magazine is aimed at teenage indie/rock kids and the magazine does attract them very well by the images and style of the magazine. By having a picture of an indie/rock band makes it more appealing to that type of audience, as it's their type of interest. The kind of readers that would not be addressed is people who do not like this genre of music and maybe children and adults, as it's more of a teenage type of music.

Q Front Front Cover.

Colour
The colour of this magazine has a normal plain dark grey background. The bands colour of the clothing is not very bright either. The only thing that is a bright colour is the magazine name, which is red, this stands out more. This creates a boring and dull mood, and the colours do not give the magazine a very good first impression as the colours are quite boring. From the dull colours the magazine does not attract any specific gender audience.

Design
There is only one image on this magazine and it takes up the whole background of the magazine. The font is black and pink in a white box which makes it more oblivious to the readers. The main bit of writing is the name of the band and is written in the biggest font to get the main attraction, also being placed in the middle of page is very eye catching to the readers. The two other bits of writing is also surrounded by a white box but written in a smaller font so it’s not as noticeable to the reader. Also with the image being breaking glass and the words “break though” it matches up and fits with the image and what the band is doing.

Images
The main image is the picture of the band, (kings of Leon), which are smashing through class. It is as if the magazine is the glass and there smashing it to get out of the magazine. By the band doing this it shows there rebellious/rock side to the target audience, the audience aspire to be like this because of the rebellious prospect.

Pose, style, hair and makeup
The band Kings of Leon is known for there normal ‘scruffy’ look, so in this photo they are just wearing simple clothes and hair is the same as it normally would be. They are mostly focusing on the pose of them smashing through the class. The readers like the band for this reason of the lack of care about their appearance and this is what attracts them more to the band.

Words used on the cover
The words used on this magazine match with the image on the magazine. The words ‘Break Through’ match the image as the band is breaking through the glass on the magazine cover. The writing that is used is not very large besides the main title in the middle of the page; you would be able to see this from far so it would catch the reader’s eye.

Overall Impression
The magazine main image is very eye catching, and i think that it gives of a good first impression. The magazine shows what is inside it but not in great detail because the main focus is the image of the band. The audience that this magazine is targeted at is focused on well as they use a big band that is well known. The only problem is because of the one main image it only attracts the people that like that band, for example if people did not like kings of Leon they would be put of buying this magazine, because they are the main image and it looks like that the magazine will be focusing on kings of Leon.
