Contents Ideal Photo's.
Front Page and Double Page Ideal Spread Photos.

This was one of the other photos i choose to edit as i thought it was one of the better ones out of the many i took. When i edited it i increased the saturation of the photo, so her white face would stand out and it would give the color of this photo a 'pop'. I decided not to choose this photo as it would take a lot of time having to crop around the image and change the background. Also with her hair being messy and backcombed, it would make it hard to crop around all the full detail. As well there is a lot of space around the image, and finding features to fill this in would make the front cover very messy and un-tidy, so i decided not to use this one.

This was another photo i chose to edit amongst all the others. When i edited this image i increased the adaptive lighting so it would bring the darker bits out around her eyes and the cuts either side of her mouth would show more. This photo is good, because it's a different pose to what people on typical magazines would be doing, and this makes it more edgy. I chose not to use this photo because like before, the image would be two difficult to cut out because of the wires and her messy hair. Also it doesn't focus on the artist as much as it should for a front cover, as well the props that i have used, such as the speaker, you can not see them as much, and it does not give the same effect as it would do if they were in total view to the audience.

This was another photo i chose to edit out of all the others i took. I edited it by increasing the exposure in the photo and increasing the contrast so it makes the color more birght on the whole page, also it makes the background whiter so it would of made it easier to edit for me. The reason why i did not choose this photo is because of the person not making eye contact with the camera, all front cover images normally have an artist/artists making eye contact with the camera so it looks like they are looking out to the audience reading the magazine.
Titles & Headings.
I chose these four ideas because i thought they were simple and catchy so my target audience would be able to remember easy.
'Music' - I have decided not to use this one because it is too obvious and a slightly boring. It has no ring or catch to it, and it doesn't really show or sounds right for my music genre of my magazine.
'A-Punk' - I have decided not to use this one. I thought of this as it has the word 'Punk' in it, this represents the indie side to my magazine, and the sort of target audience i would be aiming for, with that 'punk/indie' style of fashion, this is the only thing i liked about and for me it did not add anything edgy or quirky about the magazine, and sounded a bit to girly.
'♫' - I have deiced not to use this one because of it would make it too complex for the readers to able to say what magazine they wanted, as it's not a word. I thought it would work well as no other magazine has a symbol as there title and it would make it different from other magazines, but as it is a symbol it would be to complex and difficult for the audience.
'Crank' - I have decided to use this one, because it has that rough and edgy sound about it, and it fits my genre of music for magazine well. Also it fits into both target audience as it's not to manly and to girly. When saying the word 'Crank' It sounds like a magazine as it has a ring to it, also it is very catchy and very simple for the readers to remember if they wanted to purchase this magazine. This name for the magazine is not too long of a word this makes it more of a better choice as well. The word 'Crank' will fit nicely on the front page of the magazine as the title is going to be positioned on the left side in a vertical line.
Double Spread - Final Photo's.

For this image, i increased the contrast and then used the burn tool on the outside edges. After then doing this i made the picture more sharper only slightly, so it would give it that more edgy and 'rough' look about the whole image. The style i chose fits in with the idea of the music artist.
Contents Page - Final Photo's.
This is the image i will be using for one of my images on my contents page. I edited this photo as well because then it doesn't look so plain, when i edited it i decreased the adaptive lighting, so it gave it that darker edge on the outside and made the darker feautures stand out, such as his tattoo of 'Hate' on his knuckles. I also increased the sharpness of this photo to give it that ruff edge to the whole image.

This is the thirs image i will be using on my contents page, i will have decreased the adaptive lighting slightly on my camera, so the readers could see the text on the image slightly clearer and make it easier for the audience to read the tickets.

Final Ideas for Layouts.
Front Cover
For my front cover i will be using initial design 2, as i like the idea of just the close up of one image. I think this will work best because i will make sure that the image of the artist will have good eye contact with the readers of the magazine to engage them more.
And i like the idea of the band index on this front page.
The only problem that could come from this idea of the front page would be having the letters stand out from the image and not blending in. I will make sure that this will not happen, and if it does then i will have to change the lighting on the picture to make it lighter so then the text will be able to stand out against the image.
Contents Page
I am going to be using initial design 2 for my final contents page. I like the idea of the 'Features' and 'Exclusive' being put onto that black background, i think that will make the page look very professional. Also i think the layout and positioning of all the photos will work will.
The only bad outcome from this page could be that it is on the block color background, of white. Having a white background makes it hard to fill and can leave big gaps. Hopefully i will be able to add certain features to cover up some space.
Double-Page Spread
As the double page spread is a large chunk of the magazine production and is most likely to be difficult i think. I will stink to initial design 3, because it is the most conventional it seems like a safe way to take, as i am gambling a lot on the front page. I think that this layout will be effective as most main music magazines use this layout.
I will hope the overlapping text will be effective and not cause problems as it does cross over the fold. This could be the only problem but easily avoidable.

Maslow's Hierarchy of Needs.

Each of us is motivated by needs. Our most basic needs are inborn, having evolved over tens of thousands of years. Abraham Maslow's Hierarchy of Needs helps to explain how these needs motivate us all.
Maslow's Hierarchy of Needs states that we must satisfy each need in turn, starting with the first, which deals with the most obvious needs for survival itself.
Only when the lower order needs of physical and emotional well-being are satisfied are we concerned with the higher order needs of influence and personal development.
Conversely, if the things that satisfy our lower order needs are swept away, we are no longer concerned about the maintenance of our higher order needs.
Maslow's original Hierarchy of Needs model was developed between 1943-1954, and first widely published in Motivation and Personality in 1954. At this time the Hierarchy of Needs model comprised five needs. This original version remains for most people the definitive Hierarchy of Needs.

Initial Design 3 - Double Page Spread.

Initial Design 3 - Contents Page

This contents page is like a typical contents page found in a popular music magazine. There is two images and the information about what will be inside the magazine.
On this page i would like a red and yellow theme, like a warning idea. The background color of this contents page, will be a faded red color so the information on this page would stand out. There will be a black and white image of an artist in the top right corner with a yellow border outline, and then just below that, will be an advertisement for a festival or a tour, this will be also outlined with a yellow border. Taking up the majority of the left side, will be the contents information about what will be featured inside and the page numbers. The writing of this will be black and the page number information also yellow. Then in the top left corner there would be the information like the name of this page, contents and the title of the magazine also wrote there.

Initial Design 1 - Double Page Spread.

This double spread page focus's on the images mostly. The background will be white so it's simple, as it is a very busy page with a lot of images and text on it.
Initial Design 1 - Contents Page.

This layout is a very simple layout again, it also focuses on the main image so it stands out more to the readers and would be the main focus.
This contents page will be on a black background, with one main picture of a famous landmark/building, and it will be a feature that would be inside the magazine, and beside the picture, in the top right corner there is a large 40, this is so the readers are drawn more to this story and would be able to go straight to that page and read the article. Below in a smaller box will be the contents page details, which will tell the audience the page numbers for the stories, also having the information smaller doesn't bore the readers as much, as to a majority of the audience a lot of text and information would not be appealing to the readers of this magazine. In the top left corner there is the date so the audience know if the magazine is the recent one, and in the top right corner you see the title of this page which is the contents and just below that the name of the magazine is written, this gives the contents page a bit more structure. All the writing on this page will be written in gold, and the page numbers in a red color, this gives the contents page a black and gold theme, with a bit of red. This will give the page a more classy and professional look.
