Design
The images and text do not fit together, because on the left hand side where the information is for what is featured inside the magazine. But the images have there own information and page number underneath it so you know where to find it, this is designed to help the audience find the page. There is no catchy sayings or slogans on this page for the images to go with that. The font and text that is used is simple, because there is a lot of information, but the page numbers is made bigger so it stands out more and the title is in bold, this is more eye catching for the audience, once again this is too the audience benefit because they then know the important information and can quickly get to that page to read that article.
Images
The images on this contents appeal to different audiences. The main image is of an attractive female, who is posed in a sexy way and is wearing little clothing, this is appealing to a male target audience as she is attractive and is not wearing much, also is can target the female audience as they would aspire to be like them. This two images below are other artists, the smaller image on the left is made smaller because of the colors off it makes it more noticeable. These three different images represent three different types of genres of music that will represent three different types of audiences that will be attracted to buy this magazine.
Pose, style, hair and makeup
The main image is of the girl posing. She is wearing little clothing so it appeals more to a male audience by doing this, but her style of makeup, looks like she is wearing little of it which this is what a female audience would aspire to be like her. Her hair looks natural and messy so this is also and appeal to a female audience, the rough look of her hair would appeal to the male audience as it is seen as a to be a sexy feature.
Words used on cover
The words on this cover have been kept simple, the title is in a small box on the left above the information. The title is in a small box above all the writing, it's kept small because the readers will know that this is a contents page and what it is for. On the information part, the contents is broke up into sub-sections, for example it says "Tunes" this informs the readers that under this title is were they will find recent or good songs out now, this will suit the readers interest because they can pick what they want to read. The information is clear to the readers of what will be inside the magazine, it also gives a small summary of what the features will be about like a tease so the audience will want to read it more. From a glance you would be able to see that this page is a contents page, you wont be able to see what will be featured in the magazine from far away because the text is too small, but front he style of the lay out you would be able to tell its a magazine. This magazine would stand out on a shelf as it's got large images, and some of text is bright pink.
Overall impression
This contents page does give a indication of what will be featured in the magazine, but only if you look at the information on the left side. It dose not have any bold words or big lettering on this page that would indicate what would be inside. This page attracts different audiences because of the images used, the main big image of the girl attracts male and female attention, also the two images below attract the readers because it targets the audience as i is the genre of music that they like. It wouldn't attract a younger age audience, and also it wouldn't attract people that are into heavy rock and mental. Also it wouldn't attract and older age range because it is more younger appeal.
Mixmag Front Cover.
Design
There is only one main image, and that is the image of the musicians. The image and the title/slogan fits well, as the slogan says "meet the young things, that run the tings!", the image is off all the new up and coming stars of the music industry and the word "tings" is slang that younger people say now days, this is play on words and can attract a younger target audience. The font of the words "new school" is different and stands out to more to the readers because of the shadow effect and the font style. Next to every different musician there is small writing that tells the reader who they are (the anme of their band).
Images
The main image on this page is off the younger musicians. By having this image it can attract a younger target audience to read this magazine because the people in the image are of a younger new generation. The musicians that are featured in this front cover is, Friendly Fires, Little Boots, The Martinez Brothers, Skream, Surkin and Goldielocks. Having these musicians on the front cover would attract a wider range of target readers because they all have a different genres of music, for example Friendly Fires style of music is an indie/rock music but then Skream is a dubstep style of music and then Little Boots is a pop/electro style of music. By having these musicians on the front cover it's representing different genres of music, which shows Mixmag has a wide range of music inside their magazine and then this would attract more readers to buy the magazine.
Pose, style, hair and make-up
The musicians in this magazine are all nicely dressed and their hair and make-up is done nicely, none of them has gone for a different 'natural' look. This gives the reader a good impression as they look at these people and see that they look nice and spire to be like them with their styles and different look. Also it could be that because they are the "New School" that they are making a good first impression on the readers of Mixmag. The musicians are all doing slightly different poses, this makes them look more individual to the readers.
Words used on the cover
The title and strap lines are very catchy and suit the image in the background, also the play on words by using "tings" would attract younger readers because it's slang that they would understand. At the top right it says "free warehouse cd" and the the word free is put in bold which makes this stand out more and obvious to the readers, it will also make the readers want the magazine more, other important words like this are highlighted more to make them stand out. It gives a good indication of what would be inside of the magazine because of the list of the bands/musicians on the right hand side, and also on the left it tells us bigger articles that will be featured inside. You would not be able to see these list from a quick glance or from them being on the shelf but the words "New School" would be the first thing you notice, and also the title of the magazine, the title of the magazine is slightly hid but people will know that this is a Mixmag magazine because of the color schemes and loud colors.
Overall impression
This front cover gives dose give a good indication of what is featured inside if you read closely to the two lists either side at the bottom, but the reader would have to pick it up and pay attention to it. This front cover appeals to many different audiences, but obviously it targets it's usually audience's that like dance music, it then appeals to teenagers because of the musicians being younger and something that teenagers will know about and listen to more lately. Also the different musicians represent the different genres of music, and that would attract the reader because it's focused on a band/genre they like. This font cover would not appeal to a smaller audience than other magazines because of the wide rang of musicians on the front cover, it wouldn't appeal to an older generation who would like "Old School Dance" music, because of the younger crowd on the front. Also it would not appeal to readers that like heavy rock/metal music because this magazine dose not focus on that genre of music.

NME Double Spread.
NME Contents Page.

There is no people on this front cover.
As it's a contents there is a lot of writing which tells us what is included in the magazine. The title is in the black strap line at the top of the picture, which stands out more because it is on the black background. This contents also has the 'Band Index' which tells what bands are mentioned on the inside, this attract a wide range of audiences as their is many bands listed this attracts the main interest for the audiences. You could tell from a glance that this would be a contents because of the amount of information on it, and it is bullet pointed. The font size on this front cover would not be able to be seen from a distance, but the main header, which is the name of the magazine, would be seen from far away, also the text underneath the main picture would be easily spotted. If this contents was to be glimpsed at, it would not be the first to catch the readers eye because of the picture of the building, i think if this contents was to have a picture of a band or a musician on it instead of the building it would be more eye catching, but it could be quite clever, because it could also attract the audience if they wonder why their is a picture of a building on this contents page.

Q Double Spread.

The color on this page is very plain with a white background. The bands are dressed in gold, black and white which gives the band a very classy/rich look, this attracts a wide type of audience and makes them be more inspired to be like the band members. The whole double spread is in the same style/colors of the band, with the black, white and gold. This is a very simple style and creates a very normal mood, where the colors aren't that vibrant the mood just stays normal and neutral.
Design
This article is an interview with Will.I.Am, a band member of Black Eyed Peas, asking him about going on his own and doing a solo career. So the image is a picture of the whole band but Will.I.Am is standing out more as the other members of the band are faded slightly in the background, so the words and images both fit together, as Will.I.Am is on his own, as well the readers would focus more on Will.I.Am. Also there is a main quote that is highlighted in black, with white font, this clearly stands out more to the readers and therefore telling the readers that this is a more important fact. The lettering and color fit in with the whole theme of the page, which is the classy/rich look.
Image
There is only one image on this double spread and that is the image of the band Black Eyed Peas. The image shows the readers the bands style and class, which gives the reader an inspiration of to be like this band and copy their style. Also the female member of the band (Fergie) is dressed in a sexy way, this will also attract a male attention to this article of the magazine. As well having Fergie dressed like that could also inspire woman to look like that, as she looks good. This band shows a representation of a new look that they are creating at this time, instead of the "rock" look, it's more of a classier and different look.
Pose, style, hair and makeup
The pose of the band is very normal, individually they are doing different things which makes them look different to the readers. There style is very different, especially the member on the band on the far left with his hair style, they also have their different dress sense which gives the impression that they are setting a new style/trend.
Words used on cover
The readers attention is grabbed by the big wording in gold and grey saying "Will he. Won't He?" These words stand out to the reader clearing talking about the band member Will.I.Am. This article is directed at the audience because of the words that are most visible. is a rhetorical question this also would capture the readers attraction more. The readers that are addressed are fans on the band, also people who may not like the band as the article in general talks about one of the band members leaving. With the simple layout of the writing as well it doesn't make it so complicated so someone young could also read this.
Overall impression
This double page spread is very simple and not complicated, which sets and natural mood. The text around the article would not give the reader a clear indication about what the main story is about unless you had a rough idea what this story was about in the first place. Readers that prefer loud and more vibrant music would not be attracted to this as it uses a very simple lay out and simple colors. The readers that would be attracted to this magazine would be classy people, who are more interested in what the article is actually because of how simple it is.
