Mixmag Front Cover.

Color
The background color on this magazine is plain grey, this is because what is wrote or placed over the top of this background will stand out more. The color of the text is mostly blue or white, this is because the color of the clothing worn by the musicians is very colorful and bright, and none of them are wearing electric blue or big items of clothing that are white. The mood we get from this is quite a happy mood, because of the bright colors it creates and exciting mood for the readers. For the first page a good impression should be set, and this cover gives a good impression as it stands out with the bright colors and the colors of the clothing is also very eye catching to the readers.

Design
There is only one main image, and that is the image of the musicians. The image and the Remove formatting from selectiontitle/slogan fits well, as the slogan says "meet the young things, that run the tings!", the image is off all the new up and coming stars of the music industry and the word "tings" is slang that younger people say now days, this is play on words and can attract a younger target audience. The font of the words "new school" is different and stands out to more to the readers because of the shadow effect and the font style. Next to every different musician there is small writing that tells the reader who they are (the an
me of their band).

Images

The main image on this page is off the younger musicians. By having this image it can attract a younger target audience to read this magazine because the people in the image are of a younger new generation. The musicians that are featured in this front cover is, Friendly Fires, Little Boots, The Martinez Brothers, Skream, Surkin and Goldielocks. Having these musicians on the front cover would attract a wider range of target readers because they all have a different genres of music, for example Friendly Fires style of music is an indie/rock music but then Skream is a dubstep style of music and then Little Boots is a pop/electro style of music. By having these musicians on the front cover it's representing different genres of music, which shows Mixmag has a wide range of music inside their magazine and then this would attract more readers to buy the magazine.

Pose, style, hair and make-up

The musicians in this magazine are all nicely dressed and their hair and make-up is done nicely, none of them has gone for a different 'natural' look. This gives the reader a good impression as they look at these people and see that they look nice and spire to be like them with their styles and different look. Also it could be that because they are the "New School" that they are making a good first impression on the readers of Mixmag. The musicians are all doing slightly different poses, this makes them look more individual to the readers.

Words used on the cover

The title and strap lines are very catchy and suit the image in the background, also the play on words by using "tings" would attract younger readers because it's slang that they would understand. At the top right it says "free warehouse cd" and the the word free is put in bold which makes this stand out more and obvious to the readers, it will also make the readers want the magazine more, other important words like this are highlighted more to make them stand out. It gives a good indication of what would be inside of the magazine because of the list of the bands/musicians on the right hand side, and also on the left it tells us bigger articles that will be featured inside. You would not be able to see these list from a quick glance or from them being on the shelf but the words "New School" would be the first thing you notice, and also the title of the magazine, the title of the magazine is slightly hid but people will know that this is a Mixmag magazine because of the color schemes and loud colors.

Overall impression

This front cover gives dose give a good indication of what is featured inside if you read closely to the two lists either side at the bottom, but the reader would have to pick it up and pay attention to it. This front cover appeals to many different audiences, but obviously it targets it's usually audience's that like dance music, it then appeals to teenagers because of the musicians being younger and something that teenagers will know about and listen to more lately. Also the different musicians represent the different genres of music, and that would attract the reader because it's focused on a band/genre they like. This font cover would not appeal to a smaller audience than other magazines because of the wide rang of musicians on the front cover, it wouldn't appeal to an older generation who would like "Old School Dance" music, because of the younger crowd on the front. Also it would not appeal to readers that like heavy rock/metal music because this magazine dose not focus on that genre of music.
