NME Double Spread.

Color

On this double spread the main color is blue. Blue is normally associated with boys so the target audience of the color would be boys. The colors the boy band is dressed in is very plain like black white and navy, this makes them stand out from the white and red patterned bed behind the band. The black column on the right also stands out, and the information is about different bands that are also popular at the moment, so it makes it more important and more visible to the audience reading this magazine. There is small red box at the bottom of the page, the red stands out more because most of the color on this pages is white, black and blue. It's red because it's about the magazine NME, which makes it stands out more to readers as its a main focus.

Design

The main image is the picture of the band which takes up the left half of the double-spread, this is typical of most double spread pages in other magazines. By doing this it shows that this band is important and that the main focus of this double spread is about them. There is a 'need to know' box, which is about the band The Teenagers the box is placed over the picture of the band so we know that it is about them. All of the images have captions or speech beside them so the readers know its about them. The fonts are the same for the whole double-spread, except for the titles of the band which are a different font and are larger, this makes it stands out more to the audience and makes the readers focus more on the information.

The main image is the boy band The Teenagers, this image can target a wider target audience because of their genre of music, also because their a boy band it could attract a teenage girl audience who like the 'boy band' image. The other images on the right hand side are small but have a lot of information beside them, so the image doesn't have to be as focused on.

From far away and a quick glance you would be able to see the text because of the words being highlighted in blue. If you saw this double spread on a shelf i think it would stand out because of the colors used, also there is more images than text which makes the reader more interested.

This double spread can appeal to both male and female, but the age of the audience for this double spread is most likely teenagers. It can appeal to both types of these audience because of the color schemes it would attract boys attention by using colors like blue. But because the band is three boys, it could attract the female audience who could have that 'crush' appeal to the band, where they think the members of the band is good looking. Readers that don't like this band would be addressed because it would have no interest for them, or readers that don't like indie/rock genre of music, for example someone who likes heavy rock would not be interested or someone who would prefer to listen to R&B or hip-hop music.
